Sari-saring PAG-ASA

Empowering Small Business, Building Hope

Sari-Saring Pag-Asa Logo

Sari-Saring Pag-asa is a livelihood support program designed to assist Filipino sari-sari store owners who were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched in 2020, the initiative responds to the economic challenges faced by micro-entrepreneurs whose businesses struggled or temporarily ceased operations during the crisis.

The program provides Php 3,500 in financial aid per beneficiary, complemented by a comprehensive “relief, recovery, and reform” support package. This package includes skills training, business guidance, motivation sessions, continuous monitoring, hotline support, and access to a nationwide network of fellow sari-sari store owners. Through this holistic approach, the program aims not only to provide immediate relief but also to strengthen the long-term sustainability of small neighborhood businesses.

Initially targeting 50,000 beneficiaries, Sari-Saring Pag-asa seeks to expand its reach to 100,000 sari-sari store owners, representing approximately 10 percent of existing stores nationwide. Achieving this goal requires strong collaboration and bayanihan among government agencies, the private sector, civil society organizations, and community leaders.

To date, Sari-Saring Pag-asa activities conducted across various areas have supported 27,845 beneficiaries, who received both financial assistance and renewed confidence to reopen, improve, and grow their livelihoods. The program is regularly livestreamed via Facebook, offering continuous educational content and inspirational stories that guide sari-sari store owners in starting, managing, and expanding their businesses, while showcasing the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of Filipinos.
