Bayanihan — a beautiful word that speaks about the spirit of helping one’s neighbor.

Sampung Libong Pag-asa embodies this bayanihan, allowing Filipino families to recover from the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. By providing Php 10,000 “ayuda” (cash aid), beneficiaries are given the opportunity not only to make ends meet but, more importantly, the means to start a decent and sustainable source of livelihood. This bayanihan transcends mere dole-outs and provides real empowerment to deserving recipients.

The initiative calls on Congress to give due credence to the Bangon Pamilyang Pilipino Bill, which aims to make this program accessible to all Filipino families. Proponents also hope to inspire like-minded individuals, as well as the recipients themselves, to always “think big” for one another and to demonstrate that by giving more, one receives more.

To date, a total of 16,425 Filipino households have been given hope—and with it, 10,000 more reasons to remain resilient and steadfast. Sampung Libong Pag-asa was a regular event livestreamed via the official Facebook page of Senator Alan Peter S. Cayetano and Sampung Libong Pag-asa.

Sen. Alan Cayetano continues the SLP initiative to not only help those in need by providing 10K ayuda, but also to take it a step further by offering assistance specific to each Filipino family, whether due to a disaster, medical reasons, educational needs, agricultural challenges, or to help family businesses get back on their feet.
