Emergency Response Department

Serving with Speed. Leading with Compassion. Saving Lives.

The Emergency Response Department (ERD) is a department created and led by Senator Alan Peter S. Cayetano in 2013. It serves as a response unit that delivers assistance and aid such as rice packages, grocery packages, financial assistance, and rehabilitation packages to families affected by different forms of natural disasters (i.e., typhoons, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, landslides, fire, and man-made disasters).

The devastation during the fire incident in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City in 2013, which resulted in the displacement of more than 500 families, spurred Senator Alan Peter Cayetano to create a disaster response unit that would aid families affected by such disasters.

Two of the most significant ERD operations include the delivery of aid to around 3,800 families from three barangays in Isla Verde, Davao City on April 15, 2022, and the provision of assistance to about 1,500 families from Barangay 20, Isla Puting Bato, Manila City on May 9, 2017.

ERD Goal

To ensure that assistance reaches even far-flung disaster-affected areas, the team coordinates not only with national government agencies such as the DILG, LGUs, and the DND/AFP, but also with private organizations. Since its establishment, the ERD has successfully aided around 124,000 families in about 550 cities and municipalities nationwide.
