Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano has expressed his full support for the declaration of April as Philippine Veterans’ Month.
Cayetano signed Committee Report No. 40 on Senate Bill No. 1719, which was prepared and submitted by the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, Peace, Unification, and Reconciliation on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
A committed advocate for veterans’ welfare, Cayetano has consistently honored their sacrifices, including during commemorations of Taguig’s liberation from Japanese occupation in World War II.
“Gawin natin ang lahat para makumpleto natin y’ung sense of community sa pagkilala sa mga beterano natin, sa mga lolo’t lola natin,” the Minority Leader said in paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino war veterans.
Cayetano emphasized that dedicating the month of April to Filipino veterans is a meaningful way for the government and the nation to recognize the patriotism and service of former military personnel who fought in times of war.
“Kasi ang Panginoon po, ibinigay ang Kanyang best para sa atin. Ibinigay pa ang Kanyang sariling anak. Kaya tulad Niya, trabaho natin ibigay palagi ang the best para sa lahat,” the senator added. ###
